Chiang Dao Store
Chiang mai, Thailand
2015
Project Description
Chiang dao store is one of the biggest hardware and construction equipment store in Chiang mai, with the aim to start doing business with Myanmar through the border line, they decided to build a new store. With very beautiful location near Chiang Dao Mountain, the clients wanted to build a very big scale hardware store with one condition – the store must complement the existing view not blocking or destroy the beauty of it.
Design Process
Since the location is 5 meters higher than the street level and the main vehicles that will be entering the site is going to be full loaded big trucks. The main problem for this project is how to get all the truck up and down the site. After several meetings with civil engineer, we decided to go with the 2 levels grading which not only solve the traffic problem but also open the view from the street to the building itself. The building was design with curve lines and several levels to imitate the dynamic of the mountain behind. This is going to be the only hardware store with Lanna – contemporary style architecture.
Traffic design
The traffic within the site was design by separating the circulation of big trucks and smaller vehicles, with two separate areas for parking, all the big truck was hiding behind the building so they will not blog the view.
Nan Project
Nan, Thailand
2015
Project Description
This project was one and a half year long project. The owner of this project wanted to start his own real estate business, he has a piece of land which has the area about 6,400 sq.m. He approached me to do the architectural design for the whole project. I work with the him from business model writing part to architectural design part, the core was to design a real estate project which will give the most return on investment in the shortest period of time. Numbers of research has been done in order to design the master plan and overall theme of the project.
- Thailand’s real estate market situations and trends
- Customers behaviors
- Law restrictions
- Business model writing
- Projectfeasibility
After all the researches, we agreed that in first phase we will only develop half of the land to be a community complex, which include 8 unit of residential and commercial building, a community mall with 10 rental units with a big coffee shop, and activity park which is flexible and hoping to become an out – door antique hip market.
Design Process
The design of this project was divided into 3 phases,
1) Master plan of the project
2) residential and commercial building
3) community mall and activity park.
Everything was design under the concept of ‘Lanna – Modern style’ which is the integration of ancient architecture elements with modern architecture.
PSP Renovation
[Interior Design]
Chiang rai, Thailand
2015
Project Description
Phisitphol Kollakarn is one of the biggest and oldest motorcycle’s spare part store in Chiang rai, with a history longer than 50 years, the existing buildings and storefront was very out of date, piles and piles of tires and other spare parts were everywhere in the store. As part of my full-time job, I was assign to redesign the entire space of the store (150 sq.m.)
Design Process
The biggest challenge in this project was to re-organize the used of space, to compliment the new business model (which at the time is not quite clear yet) and to meet the clients requests to use the existing furniture as much as possible and the store has to be able to keep on open while the construction is happening.
The design was focusing on how to showcase the products in the best way possible. The space was divided into 4 main zones 1) Show- room2) Office area3) Waiting area and 4) storage. Office area was placed in the middle of the space, to allow the owners to be able to see everything that is happening in the store. Because 70% of the customers are make, the main materials used in both structure and decoration was wood and steel to promote the manly feelings, by adding bright colors in some parts the overall space become more lively and inviting.
JC Home Office
[Interior Design]
Nan, Thailand
2015
Project Description
In the beginning of 2015, I was contacted by a couple to design the interior space for their new house which also going to be the office space for their business as well. The house was a 3 story building with the area of 325 sq.m. The requirements were as following.
- First floor : Ticket airline office space with reception area and a meeting room
- Second floor : Director’s office, entertainment room, kitchen and dining area.
- Third floor : Two bedrooms, two bathrooms and one multipurpose space.
Design Process
One major influence in designing this project was the belief of ‘feng-shui’, each room was placed in a specific location to promote wealth and the flow of power in the house. Certain rules has to be followed such as every doors in the house cannot face each other, the choice of color and materials has to implements the person who will be using the room.
On first floor which is the office space, was design to give the welcoming and relaxing feeling, this is the “Yin” space which meant to be more feminine part of the house, red orange and yellow as the main colors. The space was design to be flexible, light and open. With a double space indoor garden in the middle, every single space in first and second floor can receive the power of nature.
Second floor is mainly for entertainment purpose, the space was again design to be flexible and open, but overall theme is more masculine to give the “Yang” energy to the house. The overall area was design with industrial – loft style with dark wood, brick and concrete as the main materials.
Third floor is the space where “Yin” and “Yang” come to meet, the space was design to allow the dynamic between feminine and masculine to complement each other. The entire space was also design with Thai-contemporary style.
FiNN: Office Interior Design
Chiang mai, Thailand
2014
Project Description
Food Innovation and Package Center (FiNN) was a new organization of Chiang Mai university in 2014. The university decided to renovate an existing unused part of the Industrial Design Faculty in to an office space for 10 people. Me and one of my friend (also a freelance architect) were asked to change an empty 200 sq.m space into a meeting room, director office, main office and research lab.
Design Process
We worked very closely with the directors of the organization in designing this project. The core concept was to create a “Playful and Creative” space, to represent their innovative product and joyful office culture. We proposed a very unconventional layout (at least for the education office space) with circular meeting room in a middle of the space surrounded by Polycarbonate panels. The color and semi-transparent characteristic of the panel give the lightness feeling to the area. We didn’t want to over- colored everything so the other area of the office was design with black, grey and white color scheme.
Lanna Agro Industry Building
Chiang mai, Thailand
2014
Project Description
Lanna Agro Industry building was a 50 years old, 4 storeys building located in the middle of the city, the company had a plan to renovate the entire building’s exterior to match with the new bard image of modern – international company. I was approached by one of my professors to work with him on this project as a freelance architect. My role was mainly to focus on the façade (shading elements) of the building.
Design Process
The concept behind the design of these façades was ‘modern – dynamic’, we wanted to replace a very boring, out-of-date and static looking building, with a more dynamic feeling. Due to the limited of time and budget, we decided to go with polycarbonate panels, which would only need 2 months for the whole project construction. During the whole process, we experiment with several choices, we tested them with 3D models and also physical models to see which design is best fit with our criteria for both esthetic and functional perspectives.
The final design was the two layer panels, which allow enough natural lights to the interior space but also block out the heat from certain areas. Unfortunately the projects was never built, due to the changes in company policies.

Phuket Airport International Terminal
Phuket, Thailand
2012
Project Description
Phuket airport is one of the most crowded airports in Thailand, the number of passengers at the time was triple the capacity of the existing terminal. Thai’s government already had the plan to build another international terminal building to increase the capacity of the airport. I took the case and did my thesis project base on the real existing situations. All the design elements was design according to the FAA Airport Design Standard. It was a one year long individual projects.
Design Process
The major challenge of this project was the limitation of the land size. Through careful observation and analysis, the layout was placed in order to maximize the use of the site context and to create the efficient ventilation system as well as avoid direct heat from the sun.
The key influence on the shape and form was the “moving sea wave” which compliments the seaside geography of the airport. The shape of the terminal also allows the dynamic flow of passengers to be easily created.
The intention behind master planning was to create the semi – outdoor atmosphere throughout the building. For example, by weaving water elements into arrival hall would allow the passengers to acknowledge the sense of seaside airport right after they touch the ground. In order to express the exceptional perception of local spirit, the interior spaces were designed with the local elements; material and patterns. Every space of the building has its own unique character. The departure hall was inspired by local handcraft patterns and the departure lounge was design to reflect the outside – in of Chino-Portuguese shop house with several light wells throughout the space.
Chiangmai Tower
Chiang mai, Thailand
2011
Project Description
This project was a semester long individual project, with the instruction to design a high-rise complex sustainable building, with at least 3 types of space functions. I designed 38 floors high-rise building with a medium sized shopping center, 5,000 sq.m. rental office space, 50 rooms 5 stars hotel and 2,000 sq.m exhibition hall. The main purpose of this project was to study the high – rise building systems and structures.
Design Process
In this project specifically I challenged myself to find the inspiration from the iconic form of nature. With very straight-forward interpretation aiming to communicate with ordinary people in the area, I tried to avoid the over analyzed techniques will only resonate with people in the same field. So the overall exterior form was inspired by the iconic curve lines of a flower called “Flame of the Forest” – a very well know local flower, which has the reputation to be the icon of Chiang mai city.
Sustainability factors
Sustainability was also the key factors for design decisions; this building used both passive and active sustainability design principle.
In the passive side, the planning of the building was design to promote good ventilation system and maximized the use of natural wind and lights.
- With 5 semi – outdoor gardens every 5 floors to reduce the use of air-conditional and to create a relaxing atmosphere.
- Solar-cells was installed in the south- west side of the building, this will not only produce 30% of the energy used in the building but also function as lighting shades which reduce the heat to transmit into the building as well.
- Rain – water collected system was installed on top and underground of the building, the rain – water will be collected for all the plantation of the project.
